Most collections begin by accident: a gift, a box bought on a good day, a few singles from a trip. The good ones become intentional. Here is how to make the turn.
Buy to learn, then buy to keep
Singles are tuition. Smoke widely across wrappers, countries and vitolas. When a cigar earns a second and third try, consider the box. Boxes age together and give you a reference point over years.
Rest before you smoke
Cigars fresh from shipping often benefit from rest in your humidor for a few weeks to re-acclimate. Note the date they arrived.
Rotate and record
Larger collections develop forgotten corners. Rotate occasionally, and keep an inventory that tells you what you hold, where, and since when.
Write it down
Tasting notes are the compound interest of the hobby. One honest line per cigar ("cedar, cocoa, burned uneven in final third") becomes, over a year, a map of your palate.
Where Humidor Luxe fits
Photograph a new arrival and the AI identifies it; or search and add. See your collection by shape, true to scale. Rate what you smoke. Watch your humidor's climate on the dashboard. It's the inventory a collection deserves.
